About the Author
Michael Green has made an eclectic life the foundation of an artistic career. He holds a BA degree from New York University, attended film school, studied at the University of São Paulo in Brazil, and hitchhiked into the Amazon. He joined the legendary Castalia Foundation, worked on germinal light shows with Timothy Leary, and, in the summer of 1967, retreated from the group to live in a tepee and experience tribal living and tribal consciousness. Green also started a restaurant and meditation center in Woodstock, New York, before moving to Pennsylvania to study with the venerable Sufi master Bawa Muhaiyaddeen. Green has been a wandering monk, craftsman, sign painter, landscaper, illustrator, and television art director. Now as an artist and writer, he creates books, calendars, and art installations that celebrate the sacred. Green's books, including The Unicornis Manuscripts, The Illuminated Rumi, and The Illuminated Prayer, have more than 2.5 million copies in print.

I gave this four stars only because I like the text. But the cut and paste looking cheaply printed illustrations do it no favors. It was $8.99 and available on January 1 and beggars cant be choosers but you get what you pay for I guess. I’ll live with it and grumble everytime I see a poor edge on a fractal collaged onto a balanced graphic Celtic design. Looks like Invasion of the Giant Octopus on an illuminated manuscript done on a photocopier half out of ink.
It fits our aesthetic and I like how it has moon phases and religious holidays from all sorts of different faiths, including Pagan holidays. You don’t see a calendar that lists Christian, Muslim, Chinese, Buddhist, Hindu, and Pagan holidays ever... I appreciate it. As I don’t recognize all of them it feels nice to know what our brothers and sisters of other faiths are recognizing. The art is beautiful. The quotes are nice and non-denominational with a Celtic essence. Love it. Perfect.
