#169,884 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

This was an okay read. I'm rounding up from 3.5 stars to 4 because I'm very much partial to the urban fantasy genre.I wanted to love this book but the story pacing was off-kilter (meaning a whole lot of nothing happened to move the plot along for three quarters of the book). Add to that [spoiler alert] an awfully convenient solution to the "life or death problem" at the conclusion of the story- i.e. suddenly the "lovesick" townsfolk just had to be separated from the source of their "love" for long enough to mope around for a bit to recover and tada...no more threat of imminent death if separated from one another [end spoiler].The story does have a lot of potential, don't get me wrong. Its just not on par yet with the immersive , complex story telling of established urban fantasy series like "The October Daye" series by Seanan Mcguire or "The Dresden files" by Jim Butcher.

I really liked this book, although I agree with another reviewer who said the "fix" was "convenient." Unlike that reviewer, I think the pacing was fine.I'd like to see more about the main character, especially now that she knows the secret about herself. And I'd like to see more about her and her new love interest.

I love fantasy books and this one was quite good. Burgundy's aunt is a witch and has a "familiar" who happens to be a miniature dragon. He was an added bonus. The "fix" at the end as noted by other reviewers was not a good fit for the book and just contradicted the whole problem. I gave this 5 stars anyway because the characters were all well-done, this is a series and the book had a miniature dragon.

I like this book, with reservations. The characters of Burgundy, Charlotte and Jenna are well realized and had an interesting dynamic, kinda like real people do. I like that the author did not feel the need to create and explain an entire alternate reality, being satisfied, and satisfying the reader, with just one little town in that place. I did get the impression that Ms. True has not spent much time in small towns, there was a big city feel to the place even though she repeatedly said there were only two thousand people living there. I’ve lived in a number of small towns in the Midwest and Mid-south and none of them would have supported a take-out Chinese restaurant, especially not one that seemed to specialize in Japanese cooking (sorry folks, teriyaki is not Chinese). Every small town I’ve lived in had a diner, a bar and a pizza place, and those struggled to stay in business. Take-out Chinese (or Japanese) is a big city deal. That being said, this was an engaging story that kept me interested in the characters and interested in finding out what was going to happen next. While the ending wrapped up the story-line, perhaps a little to conveniently, it also raised more questions than it answered. I am looking forward to the next episode. I'd like to see Burgundy grow into her potential.

I really liked this story and I loved the paranormal aspects of it. I found issues falling in love funny as can be!

Very entertaining story, great imagination on behalf of the author, sooner than Burgundy, noticed who the Warlock was.The story really dragged and found repeated phrases and sentences. However, if you like an interesting fantasy story, with a predictable climax read this book.
