Losing weight is very difficult for some of us. I've gained weight (and quickly!) on a couple of diets (both a 1600-calorie diet and a low-glycemic diet), and the only one that worked for me was Atkins except that it made me ill. So I find that my middle-aged spread is just about impossible to lose and I feel a bit desperate.I decided to give self-hypnosis a try and this one was highly rated. Since I have food allergies as well as a history of diet failures, I listened all the way through these CDs without going into a "trance." I found a couple of things that I was uncomfortable with. First of all, the speaker suggests that you like whole grains. As someone with allergies to wheat, corn, and millet, I don't want to introduce a craving for grains into my subconscious. It's hard enough staying away from those items as it is! Other suggestions made are that you love fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Persons with nut allergies will have a problem with this.The subtitle for this recording is "Use the Power of Your Mind to Make Any Diet Work for You" but it is not really suited to low-carb, paleo, or grain-free diets since whole grains are suggested several times.Also, I got uncomfortable with Dr. Gurgevich's voice. At times he sounds like one of Mr. Rogers' puppets! It felt a little creepy to me.By the way, when one of the sessions ended, I had a strong craving for chocolate. He had not mentioned chocolate so I guess that was just me. But over all, I was disappointed with these CDs because they are not suited to my needs.

I understand the process of hypnosis. There was too much excess talking during the exercises. I didn't need to constantly be told that I was taking time for myself. I wanted more exercises where I was gently guided through a process. I wanted more guided imagery. It is till a good product in places, and I can skip to the parts that help. However, overall this was a disappointing work.

After I first listened to this, or rather, part of it, I agreed with a negative review. I, today, thought that maybe I wasn't fair and I listened again. Unfortunately, my reaction is even more negative than when I first listened. First of all, I feel like I am receiving a lesson about hypnosis rather than a focus on leading me into trance. I thought, let's get on with it. It got worse for me, and when it got to the car and livingroom makeover, I had to again turn it off.I have listened to several other CDs that accomplish the task in half an hour. You may trthink that listening to several CDs running 70 minutes each is better than half an hour, but the proof is in the pudding. I have lost 20 pounds, a pound a week, just as my doctor says I should. It's just not for me. I am too busy to spend hours listening to something that is not helpful to me.Now, this is my opinion. Others will feel differently. I respect their evaluation.

The nice thing about these CD's (3 in all) is that you don't have to do any work except find the time to listen. I feel myself carried into a trance state without much difficulty, perhaps because this happens in the safety of my own home. The first CD gives many tips on reaching your perfect weight. The second has four separate hypnosis sessions (like guided meditations). Each one addresses a different issue around weight issues - changing your taste for foods, finding your own, unique reasons for gaining weight in the first place, loving yourself and visualizing the cells of your body functioning the way you want them to, and craving control. The third and final CD is one you should use daily, with three separate sessions for morning, before dinner, and before sleep.In addition to the focus on weight loss and gaining your perfect body, there is an emphasis on feeling good in general, which I like very much.I would say that for me these CD's are proving effective. In the past five days I have lost three pounds without stress. I notice that I'm drinking my green drink more than once a day(very unusual for me) and just am less interested in food. Pretty impressive.

I have been using these CD's for a couple of months now. My weight is gradually dropping, which is what I wanted and expected. The surprise has been that in the aftermath of a highly stressful change in my life, the hypnosis sessions are helping me to reduce anxiety and to sleep better. I love the emphasis on a healthy lifestyle.

I was pregnant when I purchased this, and was not looking to lose weight, but to help curtail weight gain. I also channeled it to help myself improve in many other areas having nothing to do with weight. I think you can focus this program for anything you need work on. One of the best things I used it for in pregnancy was to cure my insomnia.

I have lost 12 pounds in the first 2 weeks. After giving birth at middle age, when my body is resistant to weight loss, this has been a miracle. This product has given me the motivation to eat healthier smaller portions and to exercise. If you commit yourself to taking these CDs seriously, you will see results.

It's ok. I had to get used to the voice. I decided to create my own self talk.
